Sonya K. Harrigfeld

Sonya Harrigfeld is the Director of Stanislaus County’s Departments of Environmental Resources and Parks and Recreation.  She was appointed as Interim Director in June 2004, and appointed to the position of Director in March 2005.  She is a member of the California Conference of Environmental Health Directors and California Parks and Recreation Society. 

The Harrigfeld family moved to Modesto in 1965 and she is a graduate of Beyer High School.  Sonya holds a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University and a Master of Business Administration from University of the Pacific.  She is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist and a California Specialized Training Institute Certified Hazardous Materials Specialist.  Sonya has been employed in the Department of Environmental Resources since January 1987.
