About the Permit Guide 
The Stanislaus County Planning and Community Development Department’s Interactive Permit Guide is designed to provide an outline of what is required to obtain a permit for a project. Available permit guides include information on constructing an accessory dwelling unit, requesting a utility service connection, or installing a new or replacement HVAC system or water heater.
By clicking the “Interactive Permit Guide” Button below, you will be directed to a sign-in page to access the guides. If you do not already have an account, please select the “Sign up now” link to create one. Once an account has been created, you can sign into the permit guide and begin moving through the guide based on your project type.
Please remember that the guides are purely informational. This means that individuals who wish to move forward with their projects will need to submit permit applications directly to the County via our online Accela Citizens Access (ACA) portal or in-person at our Department. If the guide to your project specifies a land use entitlement is required prior to obtaining a building permit, then the applicable Planning Application Questionnaire Form will need to be submitted to the Planning Department prior to applying for a building permit.
