Chief Gary Hinshaw

Chief Gary Hinshaw has served as the Fire Warden and Assistant Director of Emergency Services for Stanislaus County since June 2002. His previous experience includes 25 years of fire service experience with the Modesto Fire Department and five years with the U.S. Forest Service. Chief Hinshaw’s responsibilities include managing the Stanislaus County Emergency Operations Center, serving as the Stanislaus County Mutual Aid Coordinator, leading the Stanislaus County Domestic Terrorism Task Force, serving as the chair of the Stanislaus Operational Area Council, and coordinating Homeland Security Grants which provide for emergency preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation efforts.
Responsibilities as Fire Warden include coordination and collaboration efforts with the Fire Departments and Districts serving the Citizens of Stanislaus County. Gary served two terms as President of the Stanislaus Fire Chief’s Association, and he the current Fire and Rescue Coordinator. He also has the operational responsibility for the County Arson Task Force and he is the Operational Coordinator of the California Incident Command Certification System (CICCS) for Wildland Certification and Qualifications
Chief Hinshaw is married and has one daughter. He is active in his church, the Stanislaus County Fire Chief’s Association, and the Stanislaus Regional Fire Authority. He enjoys boating and the outdoors. |
