Roger Duncan
Director and Farm Advisor
University of California Cooperative Extension, Stanislaus County

Roger has a 60% administrative appointment as director of the University of California Cooperative Extension office in Stanislaus County.  Primary responsibilities as the director are in the area of administration, staff development and budget management.  Roger’s 40% appointment as an academic Farm Advisor includes conducting applied research and extension education programs in the area of commercial pomology (fruit & nut trees) and viticulture.  Research emphases are in the areas of integrated pest management, improved cultural practices, development of new varieties and rootstocks and increased labor efficiency.

Roger obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in plant science with an emphasis in plant pathology from UC Davis in 1987.   He then obtained a Master of Science from CSU Fresno in 1990.  Roger began his career as a UC farm advisor in Sacramento County in 1994 before transferring to Stanislaus County as the pomology and viticulture advisor in December 1995.  He began his appointment as director on January 1, 2011.  Roger is a member of the American Society for Horticultural Science, The American Society of Enology & Viticulture and the American Phytopathological Society.  He is a native Modestan and graduate of Beyer High School.
